Safe Environment (PGC)

The US Catholic Conference of Bishops and our Archdiocese require that, before an individual can work/volunteer with our children/youth OR vulnerable adults, the individual must be fully compliant with the Safe Environment Program—Protecting God’s Children®. Full compliance means completion of four steps prior to any involvement with our children/youth or vulnerable adults.

If you are 18 years or older and you are planning to be involved with our children/youth (including field trips, school activities, scouting, athletics, etc.), you need to:

  1. Attend a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) seminar (sites/times are listed at www.archstl.org/child-and-youth-protection/safe-environment-program).

  2. Sign the Acknowledgement for Volunteer Screening Purposes Form (authorizes us to update your background check every even numbered year).

  3. Complete the Worker Registration Form (criminal background check form) and provide a legible copy of your Social Security Card. If you've lived outside the State of Missouri in the last 5 years, you'll also need to complete the American Checked form.

  4. Sign the Code of Ethics Form

If you completed the FOUR-step process through another parish, please call Mary Welsh at Holy Spirit Parish Office, (314) 739-0230.

If you are under 18 years old and planning to be involved with younger children/minors, you and your parents will need to complete and sign the Code of Ethics Form for Minors.

The Safe Environment Program website is http://www.archstl.org/child-and-youth-protection/.

Return all completed/signed forms to Mary Welsh at the Parish Office for processing.
