Parish Council

Jeff Purvis, chair

Jeff has been a member of the parish for 16 years. He and his wife, Shannon, have two boys, Josh and Tyler, who both attended Holy Spirit Catholic School and are now in college. Jeff is active in music ministry, ACTS, carnival, and seafood dinners and was previously involved with Holy Spirit Athletic Association.

   

Mike Graff, co-chair

Mike has been a member of the parish for 33 years. He and his wife, Dee, have two grown children: Joe is a parishioner here, and Leeann serves as a missionary abroad. Mike is active in the ACTS community, MAFFIA group, Christmas light decorations, and seafood dinners. He has been involved with carnival committee, Room at the Inn, and ACTS Core Team.

   

Dea Stratton, secretary

Dea has been a member of the parish since 2001. She has one daughter, two step-granddaughters, and one grandson; her husband passed away two years ago. Dea is currently a hospitality minister and was previously involved with handbell choir, PSR, Ladies Club, seafood dinners, and upkeep of the parish grounds. She is retired after working as a secretary for about 40 years.

   

Sherry Brown

Sherry has been a member of the parish for 38 years. She has three children, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Sherry is active in music ministry, Stephen Ministries, and the ACTS community and works part-time for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She has previously been on the ACTS Core Team.

   

Rick Keating

Rick has been a member of the parish since its formation 21 years ago. He and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters and one granddaughter. Rick is involved in music ministry, Stephen Ministries, being a Eucharistic minister at Masses, and the ACTS community. He hopes that all parishioners and visitors feel welcome at Holy Spirit.

   

Darren LaCour

Darren has been a member of the parish for almost four years. He and his wife, Emily, will be married 14 years this year. They have two daughters: Juliette will be in 6th grade, and Josephine just made her First Communion. Darren is active in parish Bible study and has been involved in music ministry, ACTS, and the First Communion parents’ group.

   

Katie Mason

Katie has grown up in the parish. She is the second oldest of nine children, and her parents Scott and Christine have been parishioners since the church was St. Blaise. Her parents have home-schooled her entire family. Katie has participated in music ministry, including being a cantor for Masses. She is a doctor in physical therapy in an outpatient clinic setting.

   

Bill Meyer

Bill has been a member of the parish for about 18 months. He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 47 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Bill is active in parish Bible study and ACTS. At Our Lady of the Presentation (41 years), he participated in parish council, Mass ministry, children’s liturgy, Boy Scouts, and PTO.

   

Peggy Owen

Peggy has been a member of the parish for 25 years. She has a daughter, Sarah, and a grandson, Jacob. Peggy leads the Bereavement Support Group and is active in Bible study, HandS food pantry, Room at the Inn meal preparation, Eucharistic Adoration, and is a Eucharistic minister. She has previously worked with HandS and with the Social Justice committee.

   

Mary Ann Sampson

Mary Ann has been a member of the parish for 37 years. She has five grandchildren (Katelynn, Madelynn, Matthew, Tommy and Gracie) and three great-grandchildren (Frankie, Benny and Nico). Mary Ann is active in ACTS and is a Eucharistic minister. She has met a lot of great people and made wonderful friends through the Holy Spirit parish community.

   

Sharon Silver

Sharon has been a member of the parish for 42 years. She and her husband, Greg, have four children who attended St. Blaise and then Pattonville High School and have five grandchildren. Sharon is an active Eucharistic minister and is co-chair for the Quilt Bingo. She has been involved with ACTS, Stephen Ministries, PSR, Home & School, and children’s liturgy.

   

Mike VanEngelen

Mike has been a member of the parish for five years. He and his wife, Catherine, have five children (ages 6 to 16), and moved to the St. Louis area in 2016. Their children attend Pattonville and participate in PSR. Mike is a parish ambassador for Catholic Charities and is applying to the diaconate formation program. His family enjoys rowing on Creve Coeur Lake.

   

Karen Vonarx

Karen has been a member of the parish for 21 years; she was previously at St. Lawrence the Martyr until the creation of Holy Spirit. She and her husband, Joe, have been married for 38 years and have three daughters, two son-in-laws, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. Karen is active in parish Bible study and has been on the carnival committee and on ACTS.
