Students make their First Reconciliation in 2nd grade. The sacrament is also included for those going through RCIA or the RCI process for older children.
"While the son was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion: he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him." ~Luke 15:20
"When he celebrates the sacrament of [Reconciliation], the priest is fulfilling the ministry of the Good Shepherd who seeks the lost sheep, of the Good Samaritan who binds up wounds, of the Father who awaits the prodigal son and welcomes him on his return, and of the just and impartial judge whose judgment is both just and merciful. The priest is the sign and the instrument of God's merciful love for the sinner." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1465)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the sacrament of spiritual healing. It celebrates a particular facet of our faith journey, the recognition of sin, and the mercy of God continually drawing us to repentance, change of heart, and ever-deeper friendship with God.
